This tool below is what our lovely Philly FD folks called their "universal key."
Between the wielder's arms and the three different spiky ends, I'm going to have to agree. Granted, given the size of all four of the firemen who came to our call, they probably don't need the tool. PR probably commissioned its design to reduce the need to explain why the firemen broke the door down instead of magically unlocking it.
Needless to say, this has made a late entry onto my Christmas wish list.
Oh and don't worry, nothing burned down. Our upstairs neighbors just left their oven on. And the coffee pot. (I'd hate to see their electric bill next month.)
And, if you still haven't found your present for me yet, that sucker is called a Halligan. You can buy one from The Public Safety Store. Kill two birds with one stone: Buy my Christmas present AND contribute to the safety of the general public.
