The Baby Still Known As Otter

Baby Otter does have a real name.  I've known what it would be for over a year.  Well, at least her first name.

We're not really a family that has a strong tradition of naming children after relatives, but it seems to have developed in my sister and me.  Her first born bears our grandfather's name, and our daughter will have our grandmother's.

Man loved the idea the moment I brought it up.  During the years leading up to our wedding,. he accompanied me nearly every trip to visit and assist my grandmother.  He grew up sadly without the presence of grandparents, so the few years with Grandma were about as close as he ever got to having a wizened story-teller, spoiling him with chocolate, adulation and love.

So, in honor of her memory, she'll be named...

...after Grandma.  And, that was all I would tell anyone.

Jump forward in time, and now we know her name in full!  All the same, I find myself still unable to share it.

I thought I would.  I told people I would post it.  Great plans were made to finally announce her name here and in facebookland.

Except that I don't use names in blog posts.

Instead, here is an amusing rant about naming your baby from one of my two favorite youtube sibling celebrities:

If you ask one of us in person, we will gladly share it, but we're a little uncertain about how much of our daughter's life will get broadcast over the interwebs.

And there will always be pictures.

Miss you, Grandma.
