invitation assembly lines

The complicated 12 step process to packaging and mailing out the invitations:

Three extra pairs of hands, three hours and the Man's dinner and drink pouring skills... and 106 invitations were put together and mailed out.  My minions fell right into an assembly line of workers, completing tasks like steel, automated machines fed by wine and spaghetti.

Two days later we tried to finish the 40 Chinese side invitations.

Note the beers Hon and I used to help ease what turned into a four hour operation.  Unlike my side, the future in-laws did not have a complete list of their invites.  They also added 10 more people.  And then wavered on who would get an English invitation and who would get a Chinese.  (We thankfully over-overordered so there were enough invitations for that.)

Oh and then there was the "how do you write their Chinese characters?" conundrum.  Clearly, there was no assembly line process.  Everything moved with surges and sputters.  Address an envelope here.  Tie a ribbon there.

While a little frustrating for my type A heart, it ended up being one of the most amusing nights of wedding planning.  Not only did Old Man help out, but he took my directives to fold pretty well.  There were some Chaplin-esque facial expressions and jokes about being blind and weak, but his hands were always busy.

See?  Proof of those hands of his at work.  He also volunteered to tie knots on the gold string holding the pink paper inside the red envelope.  (Though it was mostly because no one's knots met his standards!)

  1. oooo, pretty pictures. So excited to receive your invitation btw. I'm sorry to hear you've been working so hard! I met a person on megabus on the way up to ny the other day, and she said her friend is planning a wedding where' she's making everything too! (And she lives VERY VERY close by to you!) We were talking about hooking you two up so you can both assist one another in accomplishing all the handmade things for your weddings. lol. (And you're both type A!)
