Peace Offerings

Some days, I am forced admit that it's not just my father-in-law.  And the husband.  I am surrounded by weird people.  One friend, for instance, has been sending me home after I visit with a 'peace offering' for Man.

First came the single stalk of single asparagus.

Then came a Brussels sprout.

Man is generally confused by this.  The two of them get along just fine, so the green vegetative offerings of peace have left him musing on what war she is atoning for.  I, on the other hand, am not fazed at all.  I've grown used to this sort of idiosyncratic behavior.  Surrounded, remember?

Yet, being accustomed does not mean the absurdity is lost on me.  This week brought the largest peace offering ever.  And entire head of napa cabbage.  The Man and I still grin and shake our heads every time we open the fridge.
