author's note (because, dangit, I am an author. So I can (and will!) take advantage of things that authors do. like make notes): A friend of mine has recently pointed out that the focus of my blog has shifted. Actually, this is how he starts every online conversation with me now. It's the new way of saying hello. All the cool kids are doing it.
The accuracy of that last statement is hard to verify, seeing as how by its definition, I only have one cool friend. All the same, I assure you it is probably likely to be true.
But he's right. Looking at the past few posts, it's clear. This blog's focus has turned.
Apparently I mostly write about being married when you still act like a 5 year old. Oh, and being married to a man who also acts like a 5 year old. And who happens to be Chinese American. And who has quirky Chinese parents. Yes, never fear, the in-laws will continue to have a special place here.
On that note, here's a great example of our 5 year old antics...
Last night, Man tried to feed me a box of Puffins. So far, a very normal action. In fact, I love Puffins. They are both a cute bird and a delicious cereal with the same bird as its mascot. And I was hungry, so it was practical to boot. On the surface? Very sweet.
Except that he literally tried to feed me the box. Unopened. He didn't even try to put the open-able end towards me in hopes that it might miraculously open before my teeth hit the cardboard. Instead, I found myself chomping blindly on the side of the box. (Man would like to point out that I did manage to bite down on quite squarely on the Puffin on the front. So that almost counts.)
Okay, so maybe I was coming towards him making chomping motions with my mouth. You know, like Lady Pacman without a bow. And maybe his shoulder was in danger. But only a little bit in danger. I'm not crazy. I was just a little hungry.
In any case, I still don't understand how that justifies a mouthful of cardboard.
Joy is so simple that even a five year old can understand it. Why (obfuscate) complicate it? :-)
