A couple of weeks ago, I was querying the man about how much rice to make for three of us. Man looks at the rice in the pot, looks at my friend and then begins the following conversation:
"Are you canto or mandarin?"
"Canto. Well both, really."
"Oh. Fan tong a?"
Laughter.
"I'm going to take that as a yes."
"Yea.."
Finally he comes back to me and says, "Add two more scoops."
Considering my very, very small female friend, I'm a little dubious. That amount almost doubles the rice in the pot. When I keep staring at him, unmoving, Man explains: "She's a rice tank."
rice bucket. hahaha. though rice tank have an ammunition-like, aggressive nature to the phrase. like it, i do.
ReplyDeleteHaha. Rice bucket makes a little more sense, now that you've clarified. I did, in fact, have a picture of her gobbling up rice like a tank roaming through a meadow...
