She also loves feather dusters, shoes and anything left on the floor. Chewing on a stuffed toy comes second only to chewing on shoes. We really try to keep her from the latter, but it's a bit of a challenge.
But not only are her favorite toys similar to those found in pet stores, she is also at a similar cognitive level. She gives kisses on command. She waves when we tell her to wave.
She kinda stops doing something when you say "no" but only actually stops when you take the item away.
And, like many of her canine friends, chasing cats is an enjoyable pastime.
She is, also, highly excitable when it comes to food. Especially food that adult humans eat instead of the stuff packaged for her species. "Begging" is too weak a word to describing the climb-all-over-you-for food determination she possesses whenever anyone within sight has something to eat. And, to be fair, both baby and dog food seem rather unappetizing compared to adult human food.
(She had her first taste of cookies. There is no turning back.)
So when people look at me in horror when I joke that I have trained my daughter, like a dog, to do tricks, I can only shrug. They have either forgotten what a 1 year old is like, don't have kids, or lack a certain self-depreciating sense of humor.
She will eventually be a complex creature, full of imaginings, analysis, and emotions. But for now? Dog toys are a perfectly amazing and interesting discovery.
