cheap guy

It's been a long week.  While I spent the weekend whiling away my time with a good friend and retail therapy, my brain still has not yet recovered from it's mushy state.  In fact, having glanced at the syllabi for my two classes, it might not recover until May.  Thankfully for those of you who are bored at work and looking for something to entertain yourself in your last few moments, I have saved up tidbits of hilarity for moments like this.

But first, a serious and important note: Hon's parents are doing better.  His mom is home and both are on a steady regime of antibiotics and love from their son.  Thanks for your prayers!

Okay, back to the frivolity.

There exists, in the Lui household, a contradiction in monetary rules.  I have heard, on numerous occasions, Hon's dad teasing his son about being a "cheap guy" (pronounced: "chip guy")  Hon's dad also, however, loves to lecture his son every time he pays too much.

See, the rules of price in this house are as follows.  When his dad gets a deal, Hon's a fool for paying more.  When Hon gets a deal, he's automatically "chip" because he is denying someone their rightful income.

I find it amusing, especially when these two sides appear in one conversation.

Being the loving future-wife, I do my best to support my future-husband.  Such as, during one "chip guy" accusation, jabbing my finger at the future father-in-law and asking: "Where you do you think he gets it from?"  Cue a mischievous smile, a bemused head shake and the end of that conversation.
