So this weekend, I wore this Trifari necklace that my Grandma gave me. It's pretty old, but she's taken good care of it.
Note the yellow gold tone and the large size: the pendant is about 2" square. These are crucial aspects to what happened next...
"Gold?" As soon as he sees it, the future-father-in-law's curiosity and Chinese nature appeared. Could this be? Is the future daughter-in-law wearing a necklace of appropriately colored Chinese gold??
I laughed. "No.. I'm poor, too! This is just costume jewelry."
Which earned me a disapproving shake of the head and a muttered "May-can jewelry."
