Maybe pandemic is a better adjective.
I get it. If you spent $600 (or more..!) on a pair of shoes, you want to show them off. But when all is said and done, are you going to look through your wedding photos and smile at the "Jimmy Choo" tag stiched into the insole lining? Maybe it's just me, but these people are crazy on a committable level. Why on earth does a picture of just. your. shoes. merit a spot on your blog or in your album?
Now, don't get me wrong, I love some of the shoe shots because they have a fun, artistic sense to them. That and they, almost always, have feet in them. They are the photos that allude to part of the community or activities of the wedding. Photos that capture the day through shoes--not the budget.
This one, for instance, transports you to the day....the busyness, the waiting, the adorably confused small children.
However, even as I enjoy mocking those who care as much about getting a shot of their shoes as they do getting a shot of their Grandma, I have found myself absorbed into the world of wedding shoes. Let me tell you, it's fascinating research. No, I'm serious! There are some very clear categories of shoe photography out there--and not the ones Onewed.com suggests! I have been gathering pictures and sorting them by type for the past two weeks in between work days, DIY projects and homework assignments. In all honesty, this has been intriguing enough to have garnered a little more priority than it desires.
I feel like a sociologist.
Only snarkier and without a degree or any merit whatsoever. Just wait, you'll see.
hahhaa. yay shoes!!! :D i must admit i'm one of those people who would TOTALLY takes tons of pictures of my shoes. :) not necessarily to go into the wedding album though. just...for my own sake.

ReplyDeleteSee? That's what I love about shoe photography, J. They always tell something of the story of whoever wore them. :)
