Cheap Stuff

future father-in-law: "Today.  I went out and bought cheap stuff."
me: "You always buy cheap stuff!"

Today's bounty was $2 for two family's worth of watercress.  Why so cheap?  Because whoever sold this to him is planting and harvesting it on public land. Where, you might ask, are people able to plant vegetables on public land?  Well, according to him it's:

"Your cousin?  Live near Longwood?  There."  Yup.  Beside a river somewhere near my cousin's home.

And because of his great deal or because I was drinking beer without nuts to accompany it I received yet another piece of wisdom:

"You only know how make money.  You don't know spend money.  You don't know how keep money."

Oh, wait.  Two hours later his second explanation has nothing to do with me: "American people no know how spend money.  American people only know how make money."

Guess I got the wrong Mei-can.
