P(lost) > P(loosestone)*P(drain)

Yesterday morning, I sat staring at the bathroom door, absolutely perplexed. Mind you, this is not a common occurrence for me. I've been showering regularly for over twenty years. I pretty much know what I'm doing.

But now I have this ring. And this ring adds a new dimension to showering. Now the decision is not just about cleanliness, but about risk management. Do I shower with it on and risk wear? Or do I risk losing or forgetting if I take it off?

Well, with my track record for losing jewelry, I think I'll leave it on for now. I think the probability of me losing the ring because I took it off is infinitely greater than the probability of the stone wriggling loose and washing down the drain.

But after a 30 minute internal debate (and a consultation with another engaged person) I'm wondering why my ring didn't come with an owner's manual.

  2. definitely less costly (monetarily and emotionally) to get the ring cleaned and recoated than getting a new ring :)

  3. Invest in a drain catcher (it's a few dollars). Then if it ever falls off in the shower, it won't go down the drain.
