A little stupid

Before Saturday's medicinal adventure, I had planned on writing about an amusing conversation I had with my future father-in-law that morning.  The previous night, we had hosted a hot pot at his house.  Now, hot pots at the Lui's involve a 3 hour cook-your-own-food, meal that must be accompanied by drinks of some kind.

It's a feast, to be sure.  Marinated chicken and beef.  Four types of veggies.  Fish balls (and beef and pork!).  Tofu and noodles.  Fifteen people ate and drank, and still more remained.  Except the bottle of VSOP, that is.

I'm sure at least one person might be nursing a hangover between the amounts of liquor and sodium that had been consumed.

The next morning, Hon's dad greeted me with his typical "Joh sun" soon followed by "Last night crazy.  Last night stupid."  Yup.  Last night was definitely loud and fun and crazy.

"Stupid is good.  Always smart all the time, no good."

Despite his broken English and his habitual unprompted wisdom, he has a point:  We need a little crazy/stupid to break up our tendency to always go, go, go.  A good life is one where there is time to play as well as work.  And at the end of this Thanksgiving weekend, I must say:  I am very thankful to have had Hon's company as we rested, enjoyed family and played games on my ipad.

ps. My finger looks much better.  Score one for untranslatable, home-brewed Chinese medicine.
