This week was the week of the parental meeting. My parents were in town for the week, and Hon and I somehow thought a day long get together for our parents was a wise idea. Everything turned out great on the day of, but everything leading up to yesterday (and quite a few things following it) left Hon and I feeling cruevé, as the French say.
My parents were in town to visit family, so we thought this would be a perfect time for them to meet. Hon and I both took 2 days off this week from work. Unfortunately, two-day vacations apparently mean that we had to squeeze 5 days worth of work into 3 days. Needless to say, our plan to rest and have fun with family felt a little hijacked.
Regardless of our state of exhaustion, my parents seemed to enjoy Hon's parents and visa versa. And the language barrier wasn't too bad. Hon and I both translated from time to time, but usually they could both get their tale across just fine.
To be honest, I had kinda forgotten that it was the week of Christmas. And while I love the new cloths my folks bought for me, I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present that that day. Both sets of parents are crazy and they know it. But I am so grateful that they seem to love the craziness in each other. What better way to celebrate the very start of Christ's ministry of reconciliation than by watching two couples from vastly different cultures and languages come spend a day together truly enjoying each other's company.
You always hear so many stories of terrible in-laws, but God has been beyond faithful to Hon and I. Both sets of parents love both of us--and it looks like they're pretty fond of each other too.
That is such a blessing to hear. Thanks for sharing Megan! Can't wait to hear about the rest of this planning that's happening. :)
